I still need to count the people in the crowd/on the street to see if I can confirm, but I bet Sherlock was in the phone booth on the corner after the gurney switch. BECAUSE HE HAD TO WATCH AND MAKE SURE THE WHOLE THING WORKED, AND THAT JOHN DIDN’T GET SHOT. Also maybe he wanted the chance to track down the first assassin immediately. BUT MOSTLY HE LOVES HIS FRIEND.
