Text 24 Aug 137 notes Want to discuss RAT, WEDDING, BOW?

Moffat and Gatiss have revealed that the words “rat,” “wedding,” and “bow” are the Series 3 words. That means those three words are clues to what the three new episodes will be about. (For comparison, the Series 2 words were “woman,” “hound,” and “fall.” “Adler,” “Hound,” and “Reichenbach.”)

  5. robotspierre answered: I’m thinking wedding could be Milverton? It certainly seems like a good candidate for adaptation. Although the marriage never does happen.
  6. nekonine answered: Re: “wedding” maybe meaning Mary/John: Sign of Four has been done in The Blind Banker (Sarah?). What about The Noble Bachelor?

  8. thisdivision answered: In the ACD canon, Lestrade is characterized as ‘rat-like’ - any possibility we could be looking at a Lestrade focused Ep.1?
  9. johnthemod1 answered: In one of the stories, a man’s last word was “belliRAT.” Bow can mean any story from His Last Bow anthology. Not sure about Wedding.
  10. rockethound answered: Perhaps of the writers has decided to tell “the story the world isn’t ready for” re: the Matilda Gibbs and the giant rat of Sumatra.
  11. gold-titaniumalloyman answered: You’d think one of them would be The Empty House (are they in order?). Not touching wedding. & most apparent for “bow” is his last bow…
  12. pleaserepeatthequestion answered: My analysis of it: pleaserepeatthequestion… If anything, I’m confident over my idea of RAT.
  13. pearl2525 answered: Moffat is an ass.
  14. angerd answered: I, as many of you, do not wish to see John married off, let me draw the attenion to the fact that Mary dies during the “great heist”.*Hoping*
  15. damned-heathen answered: *joke theory* @digitalspy tweet: “how series 3 will resolve “that ending.” “It involves sumo,” jokes Gatiss.”Maybe a reference to Sumatra?
  16. running-like-jack-sparrow answered: I hope that „Bow” doesn`t mean `His Last Bow`,but Moffat`s already promised us a cliffhanger, so a season 4 should be required, right?
  17. thekingofwaffles answered: God, I hope ‘bow’ isn’t ‘His Final Bow’. It needs to be ‘bow’ as in ‘tied a bow’- but I can’t think of anything for that either!
  18. thereisnosherlockholmes answered: I believe it will be the last season, and I’m heartbroken.
  19. laughingandgrief answered: “Bow” is definitely for His Last Bow. Although it’s bittersweet, I firmly believe that this will be the last season.
  20. cmbrbatch answered: OH MY GOD WEDDING? OH MY GOD BOW? LIKE IN HIS FINAL BOW?! Nooooo. MOFFAAAAAT!
  21. surgeonofhope answered: BOW?!? SHIT! That means Sherlock Holmes final bow so this is the last series right?
  22. the-lucky-number answered: I don’t know where Rat comes into The Empty House, but I’d assume Wedding refers to Mary and John and Bow to ‘The Last Bow’
  23. 40feetbelow answered: maybe the ‘rat’ stands for how Sherlock tricked John? like he was the rat who tricked everyone into believing he was dead. or something.
  24. think-genius answered: ‘giant rat of sumatra’ doesn’t make sense, it wasn’t even written for Doyle! in that case, they’d take ”the Sussex Vampire”…

  26. rocheechan answered: The Boscombe Valley Mystery <-more likely for ‘rat’
  27. pkrosche answered: I have a feeling that since everyone immediately jumps to His Last Bow, that it won’t be that obvious & relates to the collection of stories.
  28. alamelalei answered: Rat: Giant Rat of Sumatra? Wedding : John’s? Bow : The Final Bow? (PLEASE DON’T, MOFFAT. PLEASE.) but i thought the empty house would be 1st
  29. basepairwobble answered: what if he didn’t say ‘rat’ but ‘red’ and 3.1 is going to be about the red-headed league? you never know with scottish pronounciation….
