Let me be the Sherlock to your Jim.
Actually, no. I take that back. That would be bad.
But let’s do a little advertising for you with this self-promo post.
Tell us—why should your fellow Sherlockians check out your blog?
The full HD video from PBS of the Sherlock Q&A in New York City on May 2nd is now up!
Find answers to some of fans’ most popular questions in this special panel with Masterpiece Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, co-creator Steven Moffat and producer Sue Vertue,” filmed at a screening in New York City in May 2012. http://www.pbs.org/sherlock
Following up on that post from a while back about a forum for Sherlock theories…
Plueschkissen has gone ahead and created a new forum.
It’s up and available for use, but still under construction. Plueschkissen is looking for people who’d like to help run it. She asks that you contact her at abbelativ@web.de if you’re interested.
New headcanon: Nobody at Scotland Yard knows how to flip the water bottle onto the cooler without spilling, so they never have water to drink. The detectives just stand around the water cooler staring longingly.
Did a post about a water bottle in the background really just get more than 1000 notes in under three hours?
Oh, fandom. Never change.
Just noticed this is now the most popular post on my blog.
Your strange beauty frightens me, fandom. But I can’t look away.
PBS just released this video from their screening event. New footage and interviews!
On May 2, 2012, PBS and Masterpiece held a screening/Q&A event in New York for Sherlock Series 2, which premieres on PBS May 6. The event featured actor Benedict Cumberbatch, co-creator Steven Moffat & producer Sue Vertue. 10,000+ people tried to get tickets, and fans flew in from as far away as London, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
Hey Sherlockians—laurizplease is at an event with Moffat that’s starting in a few minutes. She has internet access while she’s there, and is looking for questions that are clever enough to trick him into giving away clues.
Got any ideas?
princeanus asked: Something "like" Vatican cameos? Why not Vatican cameos?
Because if you shout “Vatican cameos!” at Sherlockians, they do not hear it as “I’m just being silly.” They do this.
(Also because I need my #Vatican cameos tag for when I discuss Vatican cameos.)
I’m asking a boy out tomorrow, and he’s both a Sherlockian and a Whovian. So I need some suitably nerdy pickup lines. ASAP.
Signal boost because I know some of you would be good at this. ^

Anonymous asked: I feel let down that I haven't spotted the traffic cone lurking in the background of fanfics yet like dinos often do around Anderson. Fandom! Disappointing!!
(The Story of the Magic Traffic Cone)
Fandom is distracted writing short fiction about the Scotland Yard water cooler.
Not even kidding. Check the reblog comments on this post.
I have no idea what’s going on, but it amuses me greatly all the same.

We think it’s a little unfair that only UK residence can vote in the BAFTA 2012 YouTube Audience Award, and although we understand why this is the case as a British Awards ceremony, we know that many of you non Brits would still like to help Sherlock win this award.
You can show your support by spreading the word and telling others why you think Sherlock should win the vote, and to make things a little easier, we’ve come up with some campaign poster templates for you to use in order to do this.
All you need to do is finish the sentence, “#VoteSherlock4Bafta Because…” and there’s even space to include your favourite image too!
Even if you live in the UK and can vote - if you haven’t done so already you can vote HERE by the way - tell others why Sherlock gets your vote. Share your posters [don’t forget to hashtag #VoteSherlock4Bafta when you post and tweet them as we’d love to see them], share the link for others to vote, and most importantly, share the love for Sherlock!

THE ‘SAVE UNDERSHAW’ SHERLOCK COMMUNITY MONTAGE
If you’re a fan of Sherlock Holmes in any one of his many incarnations then you’ll probably know about The Undershaw Preservation Trust, the trust that is working incredibly hard to keep Arthur Conan Doyle’s home (where he wrote many of the Sherlock stories) from being developed. Their patron is Mark Gatiss (actor who plays Mycroft in the BBC series) and you can watch his touching video about the trust at their site here.
There are many things you can already do to help spread awareness of the cause.
- Sign their internet petition.
- Follow their Twitter pages: @save_undershaw and @spiritangel04
- Attend the April meet up (organised by the lovely Baker Street Babes)
- Spread awareness of the campaign by telling your friends!
But now, in addition to the trust’s Save Undershaw sign campaign, we here at wearsherlock are adding our voice to help “Save Undershaw” go viral and we need you to add yours!
All that is required for you to enter is to take a photograph of yourself (on webcam, or your phone, or anything that can take a picture!) holding a sign that says “Save Undershaw”. You can take a photo with a group of friends or colleagues, even your pets can join in! Be creative and have fun.
At the end of the project (6th May) all the photos will be put together into a montage and then be sold as a print. If you enter, your face will go down in Sherlock Holmes history! All the profits will go towards the campaign and the future of Undershaw.
There will also be a special prize for one lucky entrant! The Co-Founder of the Trust (Lynn Gale) will select her favourite photograph and the winner will receive a wearsherlock GOODIE BAG!
There are several ways you can submit your photograph. You can:
- Upload it to Twitter and send it to us (@wearsherlock)
- Upload it to your Tumblr and tag it with “Save Undershaw” (we’ll find it!)
- Submit it to us using our photo submit form
- Or you can email it to info@saveundershaw.com
Please try to include some information about the Trust in your posts to Tumblr and Twitter by perhaps linking to their site/Twitter or by reblogging this post.
That’s it! Get snapping! Please note, we can’t make the montage unless it has at least 100 photographs so please SPREAD THE WORD.
There isn’t long left to save Undershaw, so let’s work together to make it happen!
The pictures in the photoset above show some of the wearsherlock team.
The group images can be found at the Save Undershaw website!
Having to explain to your friend that you don’t actually have a Russian buttcrack fetish after you try to tell her you spent all of April Fools’ day looking at Reichencrack posts online and she mishears you.
LET’S ALL BE ALONE TOGETHER
In that last post I mentioned that if people are sick of waiting for me to work through the backlog of questions I’ve been sent, there are lots of other Sherlocky blogs that would probably love to receive more asks.
Do you have a Sherlock-themed (or partly Sherlock-themed) Tumblr? Are you dying for more questions? Would you answer them as quick as a glow-in-the-dark bunny?
I’m totally up for sharing the love.
This post is set up as a question—answer it by telling us something about your blog so people can know why you’re a great person to ask about Sherlock. And make sure your ask box is open, of course.
Obligatory question mark —> ?

To all Sherlockians far and wide (ok, more like to all Sherlockians in and near Switzerland;P)
On the weekend of the 16th/17th of June some of us Swiss Sherlockians will be taking a merry trip to the Reichenbach Falls. (Or not so merry, depending on the intensity of all the Reichenbach feels;P)
All and every Sherlockian is most welcome to join us!
Due to its central location the meeting point will be in Lucerne from where we will take the train to Meiringen.
Also on the itinerary is a visit to the most darling Sherlock museum in Meiringen.
For more information watch Hugo Alexander Timothy Cartwright or feel free to ask anytime!
A #Sherlock Holmes meetup at Reichenbach Falls this summer! RSVP!
Well now I see the problem.

FIXED.
